Skeletal deformities

Lower limb deformities can arise form a variety of causes – congenital and acquired (commonest acquired causes being post infective and post traumatic).

These are usually complex multiplanar deformities with both angular and rotational components.

They are often associated with limb length discrepancy and soft tissue problems.

Limb reconstructive surgery @ CPOD will aim to

  • address the limb length inequality
  • achieve joint stability
  • correct soft tissue contractures
  • restore limb alignment
  • maintain range of motion of joints
